Overview

Screen Queensland's role is to develop and support the local screen industry, attract production to Queensland, and celebrate an active screen culture across the State. Locally, the State is a growing force in Australia's film industry landscape and a key contributor to the creative health of our nation. Globally, Queensland is known for its stunning locations, talented crew, and attractive financial incentives.

Vision

Screen Queensland supports and promotes a creative, innovative and commercially sustainable screen industry in Queensland that makes productions designed to entertain and connect with worldwide audiences.

Who we are

DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION

Screen Queensland provides initiatives for writers, producers and directors to create ideas that can be sold in the marketplace.

This approach is supported through the administration of our Screen Support Programmes, which are designed to help grow the Queensland industry and get their ideas on screen.

In supporting the Queensland screen industry, Screen Queensland also works to attract international productions to the state.

In an increasingly competitive global market Screen Queensland works to maintain levels of production in Queensland by:

  • attracting interstate and international productions;
  • actively promoting the key benefits of basing film production in Queensland;
  • offering a specialist locations service; and
  • working to increase the creative, technical and business skills of Queensland based crew and filmmakers.

SCREEN CULTURE

Screen Queensland is committed to building a screen culture for Queensland audiences where films and other screen-based content is created and celebrated

This is achieved by:

  • showcasing specialist cinema throughout the State including retrospectives, shorts, documentaries and new genres;
  • providing financial assistance through its Industry Sponsorship Scheme to provide new opportunities for Queensland filmmakers and the general public; and
  • recognising the achievement of Queensland and Australian filmmakers through an annual awards programme.

The highlight of Screen Queensland's festivals and events calendar is the Brisbane International Film Festival
