Open year round until funding is exhausted. Applications must be received at least 4 weeks prior to the date of travel. Late applications will not be considered except in exceptional circumstances. To support practitioners to seek buyers for market-ready projects (i.e. projects that are not fully financed); to build relationships with potential buyers, production partners, festivals and markets; to gain knowledge of trends and potential buyers; to broaden knowledge and experience of the marketplace to assist in development and production of projects with audience appeal. How to applyTalk to us about your project before applying
Applicants are encouraged to discuss their application with the relevant Project Manager prior to submitting an application to Screen Queensland. What will we support?Queensland slates of projects that are taken to markets or events that are relevant to the proposed marketing and audience strategy of each project; extraordinary circumstances that arise which present a clear professional development opportunity. In addition, for events of national significance in the screen sector that are practitioner focussed (such as the SPAA conference), Screen Queensland will purchase a limited number of registrations for which practitioners will be invited to apply; in these cases, no further marketing funding will be given. Preference will be given to international marketing. Who may apply?Queensland producers, Queensland writers or directors attached to a project and travelling with the producer. The applicant must demonstrate ownership of all the nominated projects. Applicants travelling to a market for the first time must be mentored by a more experienced practitioner; generally, it will be preferable for the mentor to also be attending the same market. Screen Queensland can assist with finding a mentor. How will we select projects?Projects need to demonstrate market-readiness and be supported by a consistent and demonstrable schedule of proposed meetings. Applicants must apply with a slate of projects (minimum of three), of which one should be the ‘lead’ project. Applicants demonstrating market interest will be preferred. The following criteria will be taken into account:
Applications will not be assessed until the applicant has demonstrated ownership of all nominated projects. Applications must be received at least 4 weeks prior to the date of travel. Applicants in receipt of travel funding as part of a development investment will be expected to utilise that funding for the relevant project before applying to this programme for additional marketing support. Applicants will be required to report on the trip in two forms: a) a confidential report on the outcomes for each project for Screen Queensland use only; b) a report on the market, its trends and highlights, for the information of the Queensland industry and for publication via the Screen Queensland website. A template for the report is available on the Screen Queensland website in the ‘Vault.’ How much will be provided and in what form? Each application is capped at $6,000 where a registration has been paid and $4,700 where a registration has not been paid. Funding is in the form of a non-recoupable grant. No more than two grants will be provided to a ‘lead’ project in any one year. No more than one person from a company (or related companies) will be funded to travel to any one market/event. In exceptional circumstances, and where a team substantially demonstrates that it is essential that the team attend a market/event together, applications will be considered for more than one person from the same company/team to attend the market, and in these circumstances the grant will be capped at $8,000. Screen Queensland will co-fund with other agencies to a combined maximum of $6,000 where a registration has been paid and $4,700 where a registration has not been paid. Screen Queensland will only fund Queensland practitioners to travel.
