Clear your diaries and mark your calendar - the 2012 Brisbane International Film Festival will take place from Wednesday 14 to Sunday 25 November.

After an exceptionally successful event during the festival's 20th year, BIFF returns to its end of year timeslot to celebrate its 21st birthday.

The Minister for Finance, Natural Resources and the Arts, Rachel Nolan, has extended the terms of five members of the Board of Screen Queensland to 30 June 2012.

The board comprises: Cherrie Bottger (Acting Chair), Leigh Tabrett, Michael Burton, Chris Nyst and Cathy Overett.

Ausfilm and Screen Queensland are holding a networking event for Ausfilm Members and Queensland members of the Australian film industry.

The Board of Screen Queensland has appointed Meredith Garlick as Acting Chief Executive Officer following the announcement of the departure of current CEO, Maureen Barron.  The appointment is effective from Friday 17 February 2012  and until the new CEO takes up the role.

Applications for funding are now open, closing Friday 2 March 2012 for events taking place in the year commencing 1 July 2012.

Cairns and the Torres Strait serve as a stunning tropical back drop for a new crime drama when the The Straits kicks off with a movie-length episode on ABC1 on Thursday 2 February 2012 at 8.30pm.

Screen Queensland invested $725,000 in The Straits, a new 10-part ABC1 series based on a concept by Queensland’s Aaron Fa'Aoso who is both a producer and one of the stars of the production

Screen Queensland is presenting an information session on the MIFF 37 South Market with MIFF Industry Programmes Director, Mark Woods.  The event takes place at Screen Queensland, level 15 111 George Street, Brisbane on Thursday 23 February 11am-1pm. 

Screen Queensland invites you for an afternoon with representatives from Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC) on 6 February, followed by refreshments and informal networking.

Entry to the awards closes on Monday 27  February. Submission of Australian short fiction films (either animation or live action, less than 40 minutes in length) requires filmmakers to complete an online submission form and payment, and send four copies of their film to the Sydney Film Festival office in Sydney.
