MABO: Coming soon to ABC1

Take a sneak peek at Mabo, filmed in Queensland in 2011 with Screen Queensland investment. The ABC TV/Blackfella Films co-production is directed by Rachel Perkins and stars Jimi Bani (The Straits) as Eddie Mabo, with Deborah Mailman (Offspring) playing his wife, Bonita.

 

Terra Nova (2011)

Terra Nova's Australian premiere 8.30pm Sundays from 2 October 2011. Filmed in Queensland, Terra Nova travels from the year 2149 when the world is dying. With no way to reverse the damage to the planet, a coalition of scientists has found a portal to a new world and a new start – 85 million years in the past.

The Tall Man has been picked up by Hopscotch Films and is set to have a theatrical release around Australia in November 2011.  The feature documentary has been selected to screen at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Tony Krawitz and produced by Darren Dale, the film is based on the award winning novel by Chloe Hooper.

 

 

Screening on SBS from 8 January 2012

Made with investment support from Screen Queensland, Once Upon a Time in Cabramatta begins 8.30pm Sunday January 8 on SBS ONE, with a Vietnamese subtitled version simulcast on SBS TWO. Executive-produced by Craig Graham (Fredbird Productions) and Queensland's Sue Clothier (Northern Pictures), this is the untold story of how the Vietnamese community overcame the odds and found their place in multicultural Australia.

Set among the turquoise waters and lethal wildlife of Australia’s Far North Queensland and the Torres Strait, The Straits is an exotic, darkly humorous crime drama. Made with Screen Queensland investment support, this hotly anticipated new series begins 8.30pm Thurday 2 February, ABC1.

Dancing Down Under starts on ABC3, 6.30pm Friday 16 March 2012. Produced by Queensland’s Veronica Fury of Wild Fury, the 10-part series was made with the support of Screen Queensland through its Documentary Production programme.
